3 Tablespoons sugar
1 Tablespoon cinnamon

2 1/2 cups flour
l/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup (packed) dark brown sugar
l/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter (not margarine)
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 300. In a small bowl combine mixture for topping.
In another bowl, combine flour, soda and salt.

In separate bowl, blend sugars and butter until grainy paste.
Scrape sides of bowl and then add eggs and vanilla. Mix at medium
speed until light and fluffy. Add the flour mixture and blend
until just combined. Do not overmix.

Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Shape into 1 inch balls and roll in
topping and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 18 to 20
minutes until just slightly brown and firm. Do not overbake.
Leave on the hot cookie sheet for a minute or so and the sugars
will continue the cooking process. Let cool on wire rack.
