Frosty Date Balls

1/2 cup soft butter; or margarine
1/3 cup sifted confectioner's sugar
1 Tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
dash salt
2/3 cup pitted dates; chopped
1/2 cup walnuts; chopped

Cream butter and sugar. Stir in water and vanilla. Add flour and
salt. Mix well. Stir in dates and walnuts. Roll in 1-inch balls.
Place 2 1/2 - inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a
slow oven (300F) about 20 minutes, or till cookies are set but not
brown. While warm, roll in confectioner's sugar.

Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
