1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup granulated sugar

1 egg
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup chopped walnuts
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

the butter mixture. At low speed, beat in cocoa powder and then
milk.

Using a spoon, mix flour and baking soda into the butter mixture,

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees
for 12-13 minutes. Remove from oven and cool slightly before removing
