Gingernut Biscuits

225g sugar
100g golden syrup
100g margarine
350g self raising flour
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 beaten egg

Put sugar, syrup and margarine in a pan and melt. Sift flour,
ginger and bicarb into a bowl. Add melted ingredients and egg.
mix well. Drop spoonfuls of mix onto greased baking sheet. Bake
at 350F/180C for about 20 min until they are golden. Leave on
sheets for a minute to set before removing to wire racks to cool.
