Soft Molasses Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
2 eggs lightly beaten
4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 tsp. ginger
1 1/2 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in
molasses and eggs, set aside. Mix together dry ingredients, blending
well. Gradually mix flour mixture into creamed ingredients until
dough is blended and smooth. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and dip
in sugar. Place 2 1/2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake
at 350 degrees F. for 11 minutes. Do not over bake! The longer you
bake them the harder the cooled cookie will be. Store tightly
covered; a metal tin works best.

I haven't tasted a cookie like this since my grandmother and mother mad3 them over 30 years ago I've been looking for this recipie for that long. It's easy to prepare and tastes great. It's texture is light not heavy and nicely soft but not too much so. The whole family loves them.
