SNICKERDOODLES

4 Tbsps shortening
6 Tbsps sugar
1/2 an egg
2 tsps milk

3/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp nutneg.

Blend first 4 ingredients. Sift together remaining dry ingredients
and stir into wet mixture.

Make cinnamon/sugar mixture for use later. Roll dough into balls
the size of walnuts. Roll in mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Place
2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes at 375
degrees or until brown but still soft.

(I usually make at least a double batch of these, which greatly
simplifies the 1/2 egg ingredient!)
